Social Entrepreneur -Educator-Writer – Speaker
Scott Speed is a student and teacher of success. His diverse personal, professional, and business background enables him to provide intelligent insights into several topics.
Scott’s educational path gave him insight into a diverse sampling of cultural and socio-economic realities. He attended elementary and middle school in the shadows of a West Philadelphia Housing Project. He later attended the culturally diverse Central High School where he excelled as a basketball player. Scott went on to attend college and play basketball at a school that had a 98% Caucasian student body. College was a culture shock initially but he learned a lot from the experience and developed life long friendships. Scott credits this diverse upbringing for his ability to view the world from several perspectives and relate with all cultures.
After college Scott, and a friend, successfully developed a business plan, secured financing, and opened a clothing store called ‘ONE Clothing’ at the age of 22.
He later went on to be a top sales producer, team coordinator, and trainer for a leading telecommunications Network Marketing/Direct sales company. It was during this time that he was introduced to the concept of personal growth and development as a means of achieving success. He began to read several books on success and took the opportunity to hear some of the leaders on this topic speak live. He credits these experiences with changing the way he thinks and helping him too grow as a person.
Looking to seize an opportunity Scott took his sales skills, business skills, and a hunger for knowledge to the mortgage and real estate industries during the housing market boom of the mid 2000′s. Through reading and experiences in that industry Scott significantly enhanced his knowledge in the area of personal finance. He continues to be a student of sound financial principals.
While experiencing a level of success in several areas in a short amount of time Scott still felt unfulfilled. He realized that he was chasing money and not necessarily doing things that were aligned with his values. He wanted to make a difference in the lives of others because he felt that would bring true value to his life.
In 2007 he decided to use his undergraduate degree for the first time and take a position where he would have an opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of others daily. He became a teacher. Scott received his Masters degree in Education in 2009 and he is currently pursuing a Doctorate Degree in Organizational Leadership. He plans to use the knowledge and skills that he attains from this pursuit to run his newly formed non-profit organization, The Neighborhood Enrichment Project Incorporated.
Scott is grateful for his experiences because they have put him in a position to teach all that he has learned and empower adults and children to gain the knowledge that they need to live a life of true happiness and success.
Scott lives in the Metro-Atlanta area with his lovely wife and their daughter.
